Lot 233: 1977 Citroen 2CV - For Your Eyes Only

The Coys Italia team were pleased to discover that James bond is not purely an English obsession! One well known Milan based collector has in recent years owned an Aston Martin DB5, immortalised by Sean Connery in the film 'Goldfinger', the submersible Lotus Esprit driven by Roger Moore in 'The Spy Who Loved Me'(also offered in this sale) and last and not least has created (for his eyes only) an exact replica of the Citroen 2CV that appeared in 'For Yours Eyes only'. Citroen in fact made a special limited series of 500 'For Your Eyes Only' 2CV's under licence in 1981. As this model was never offered in Italy this example has been made 'under licence' by it's Bond fanatic owner.The part assigned to the 2CV in the film 'For Your Eyes Only' was that of the impossible, with Roger Moore at the wheel and the lovely Carol Bouquet as intrepid passenger, they were chased down a section of mountain hairpins and through a slalom course of trees. The 2 examples used during the film were destroyed (not surprising as 2CV's were never really intended ever to be airborne!). The car you see here today is a perfect replica of the car used in the film with correct rectangular headlights, 007 adhesives with bullet holes and appropriate Marbella registration like the actual film car! In recent years the car has formed part of a travelling exhibition including the above mentionedDB5 and Lotus Esprit Submersible. The car appeared on the cover of 'Ruoteclassiche' no 172 April 2003 as it's star car.This car is no museum exhibit though, in fact it is a common sight in and around Bergamo were it is used for the school run much to the amusement of the owner's son! Due to the recent addition of a Rolls Royce the 2CV 'must go' according to its owner although we don't suppose that his neighbours will we as equally startled....!Cette voiture fut la couverture de 'Ruoteclassiche' no. 172 en avril 2003. Elle est la copie identique de la 2CV du film Rien que pour vos yeux utilisée par Roger Moore et Carole Bouquet lors d'une folle course poursuite en Espagne. La 007 est une 2CV 6 Spéciale de couleur jaune avec des motifs adhésifs noirs comprenant l'inscription 007, le 7 étant doublé d'un pistolet, sur les portes, le capot et la porte de malle.
