Lot 1783: BSA M20
According to the accompanying continuation buff logbook FVE 204 was first registered on the 6th May 1947 having been designated as an 'M20-ExWD'. The frame number would indicate a 1940 origin with the engine number relating to 1939, the registration number is a Cambridge issue. The logbook chronicles the ownership from 1956 and the first recorded is Squadron Sergeant L J Poirier of The Old Vicarage, Wendy, Cambs, 1958 sees the M20 in the hands of A/IC J A Eichberg of the 7510th USAF Hospital, Wimpole Park, Cambs before moving into civilian hands at last at the end of 1958 when Mr Charter of Arrington Hill near Royston took charge. The M20 then moved a few hundred yards to the current owner who has been in possession since 1962 since when it was used both on the road and around the farm. Having been consigned to the barn for many, many years the military M20 is now ripe for restoration, a good Cambridgeshire machine with real provenance and scope for further investigation.
