Lot 213: 1980 Mercedes-Benz 450SL
After the successful era of the 230, 250 and 280SL series, it became apparent to Mercedes-Benz that a new model would be required. This was due not only to changing tastes and styles but more importantly ever increasing safety and emission controls. With this in mind, the new model would have to be stronger, heavier and therefore require a larger engine. In 1970, the 350SL was born and would become one of the world's best grand touring sports cars.Finished in metallic avocado green with a black hard top this car is described by the vendor to be in very good condition. With a light magnolia leather interior and original alloy wheels, this car has been with the current owner for the last six years. It is in excellent mechanical condition, testament to the fact that it has been used on regular Trans-European trips without fault. The floor pan and sills have all been under sealed and the smooth revving 4,520cc V8 engine feeds through an automatic box. The car is supplied with a V5 certificate, owner's handbook, previous MoT's and a current MoT valid until August of this year. The car is completed by a fully transferable and valuable registration 22 BYA. Here is a great opportunity to acquire a fine sports car that will provide fun and reliable motoring when the warm weather eventually arrives.
