Lot 130: Bentley Brooklands
With the introduction of the Bentley Brooklands in 1992 it was announced that production of the Bentley Mulsanne S and the Bentley Eight would be discontinued. Aimed to appeal to luxury car buyers who might not have had a Bentley on top of their shopping list this new car was intended to rekindle the memories of Brooklands, The Bentley Boys and Le Mans. The sporting connections were reflected in the name and a new sports style centre console gear selector, for the electronically controlled 4-speed automatic gearbox, also appealed to the more sporting driver. The Bentley Brooklands benefited from micro-computer technology which controlled areas including the suspension, instrument displays and air-conditioning. This example is said to have covered just 34,000 miles in the hands of one owner and is described as being in, simply, beautiful condition throughout. Finished in regal red metallic with parchment hide, piped maroon, the car has the Flying B, chrome grill, twin headlamps, alloy road wheels and is offered complete with comprehensive history from Bentley Main Dealer. The car was last serviced at 33,000 miles, when it was subjected to a major service costing 3,600.
