Lot 137: Bentley Arnage

Jaguar Heritage + Classic & Collectors Motor Cars, Barons (29 April 2008)

Still one of the most exclusive saloon cars in the world, the Arnage exists in the same super-rarefied league as the Rolls-Royce Phantom and Maybach 57/62 - appealing to a completely different type of buyer to the newer Continental Flying Spur. Although the fundamental structure of the Arnage dates back to the mid 1990s, it has been extensively re-engineered. Behind the new styling it is all reassuringly familiar. As always, with a Bentley, the Arnage gets a proper "gentleman's club" interior of the old school - leather, wood and carpets that you practically lose your ankles in. As an automotive statement, the Arnage still stands pretty much in a league of its own. This 1998 example is a finished in a special order "Pink Champagne" one of only two to be so finished. It is trimmed in champagne hide with contrasting trim and deep pile carpets. In addition to the extensive standard equipment, considered standard fittings on this luxury express, the car also has telephone points in the front and rear.Described as being in outstanding condition throughout, the car has covered just 43,000 miles from new and is accompanied by extensive service history, predominately by Jack Barclay but also includes other dealer services. The car is offered complete with a new MoT and tax through to December 2008. Equipped with the BMW 4.2 litre V8, the Arnage combines Bentley tradition with modern technology, resulting in an outstanding piece of engineering. 145,000 when new but less than a third of that after just 43,000 miles have been covered. An amazing motor car offering outstanding value.
