Lot 028: Lancia Thema 8.32
Perhaps the ultimate Lancia saloon made its debut in 1988, the Thema 8.32. Although externally the new Lancia looked fairly inconspicuous the 8.32 packed a Ferrari V8 engine, borrowed from the 308, under its elegant bonnet (hence the name: 8 being the number of cylinders and 32 the number of valves). With a top speed of 149mph and capable of sprinting to 60 in just 6.8 seconds, this Q-car could give other far more flashy machines a serious run for their money.
The quad cam unit delivered its 215bhp through the front wheels and the whole plot was kept on the road by the addition of electronic suspension damping. Inside the special Thema was trimmed using the finest materials which included acres of wood and leather, all of which went some way towards justifying the 43,200 price tag! Just 2,370 examples were made before production came to an end in 1990 and the model can only become increasingly collectible.
Privately imported into the UK from Belgium in the early 1990s, this particular car is said to have covered around 60,000 miles from new and to drive well. Described as being in good overall condition with an MPH speedo fitted, it comes with a fair amount of service history and is due to have a fresh MOT before the sale.
