Lot 342: Porsche 356 Speedster Convertible

Grand Prix, Competition, Touring & Rally Cars, Coys (16 January 2010)

The 356 has always been popular. In 2004, Sportscar International ranked the 356 tenth on their list of Top Sports Cars of the 1960s. Today, the Porsche 356 is a highly-regarded collectors car and the Porsche 356 Carrera, Super 90 and in particular the Speedster are today among the most desirable 356 models. A fully-restored Speedster (of which only about 140 were ever made) will sell for around 100,000. With prices touching six figures and demand consistently strong, recreations have of varying success have been produced and this particular example is certainly a strong contender as being one of the finest. Finished in Porsche silver with a contrasting red leather interior, this right hand drive example is naturally described by the vendor as being in 'excellent' condition throughout. Supplied with many original 356 parts including a wooden steering and wheel rack, this fine example also benefits from a number of more modern upgrades, including an anti-theft system and immobiliser. With power delivered through a four speed manual gearbox, a stainless steel exhaust as well as twin carburettors and period stereo add value and performance to this spirited sportscar. Supplied with a full 12 month MoT test certificate, this highly authentic example of this classic Porsche design will delight any admirer of the Speedster model.
