Lot 051: MG A Coupe

Classic and Vintage Cars & Motorcycles, Brightwells Auctioneers and Valuers (22 September 2010)

The MGA Coupe became a standard model in the range from 1956 and was available throughout the model's lifetime. Standard features included wind-up door windows, external door handles, locks and extra brightwork. Mechanically the closed cars were identical to their open sister MGA models and had genuine 100mph performance.

62 DJO was in long term ownership between 1979 and 1995, during which time it was given a thorough restoration by marque specialists Simon Robinson MGA of Darlington. A large sheaf of paperwork accompanies the car outlining the work undertaken during the restoration. Its current owner has just re-commissioned the car after a period in storage and reports that the car drives very well. The current condition of the car certainly shows the standard of the work carried out as twenty years or so later, it remains a super example of this usable classic.

It is currently taxed and carries an MOT until July 2011.
