Lot 113: Porsche 911 Carrera Targa
The 3.2 Carrera is one of Porsche's most charismatic cars, born from the styling of the legendary 911 shape, incorporating timeless lines and providing a wonderful merge between classic and modern 911 variants. This model was the last factory designated 911, built in the model year 1988 and is the last variant of the Targa design in the original 911 format.
This example is particularly special in that it is has only covered 34,583 miles from new and is supplied with a large history file containing MoT certificates and tax discs dating back 16 years and a declaration of mileage from the previous owner. The vendor reports that the car is in very good condition, with the Guards Red paint very much of the period in good order, contrasting beautifully with the interior of black with red piping.
Supplied with owner's manuals, pouch, tool kit, jack, spare wheel and inflation device as well as a current MoT valid until June 2013 and tax until November, we are informed that the car has no modifications and comes with its original Blaupunkt radio cassette player, as well as Targa release handles and locking wheel nuts. Painstaking documentation both of owners and service history bears witness to this car's fine pedigree.
With the Targa roof offering wind-in-the-hair motoring, combined with Porsche's legendary reliability and performance, the 911 Targa is a very practical classic. With this in mind prices are constantly on the rise and good low mileage examples such as this are becoming increasingly rare and desirable.
