Lot 447: Arbinet BSSC

Grand Palais Sale, Bonhams (7 February 2013)

Arbinet Freres started in Gevrey Chambertin in the Burgundy wine-growing area, later moving to the more convenient city of Dijon. Their post-Great War production was of the 'vlomoteur' machines, much in demand in the period with their first advertising dating from 1924. The company remained in the small-production, hand-built sector of the market and production of motorcycles ceased in 1934, when the name passed to another concern in 1934. All of their motorcycle production used the engines available from other makers. Equipped with a Magnat Debon BSSC overhead-valve '350' in an 'AYA' frame, the individual sports machine offered here is now very rare indeed.
