Lot 102: Maserati Quattroporte Evoluzione

HISTORIC COLLECTORS MOTORCARS, Coys (29 June 2013)

Maserati's first four door model made its debut in 1963. The new car, known as the Quattroporte - denoting four doors - had a graceful saloon body styled by Frua and was powered by a 4.1 litre V8 engine featuring the usual four camshafts and four Weber carburettors, while there was a choice of manual or automatic transmission. As could be expected from a car of such pedigree, it attracted the rich and famous as buyers. The fourth version of the Maserati Quattroporte was released in Italy in 1994, initially with a 2 litre V6 and followed in the same year by the 2.8 litre. The 3.2 litre V8 Quattroporte was released the following year in 1995. After Ferrari took over Maserati in July 1997, it introduced a Quattroporte Evoluzione for 1998. It featured 400 new or improved parts and also benefited from improvements to Maserati's manufacturing methods. The Quattroporte Evoluzione on offer today is in a very good condition throughout, finished in Mexico Green complemented with a tan interior and wood inserts on the door and dash. Complete with a documented and comprehensive service history, including service and ancillary work with well known specialists Meridien Maserati, this Italian V8 is not to be missed.
