Lot 112: Morris Mini Minor Super Deluxe

This lovely example was supplied new to an RAF serviceman stationed in Bahrain between 1964-66 and used as his personal transport during this period. The car returned with him to the UK and remained in his ownership for the next 48 years until 2012. The car is in very original condition and we are informed it is believed to be the only car built by the factory in this colour/trim option. The owner informs us that the car retains its original sills with no evidence of any panels being replaced. The interior is finished in powder blue with gold brocade seats and trim with the seats described as being outstanding and is perhaps the best known surviving original interior due to it being covered for many years. Lovely period touches include a Les Leston wood rim steering wheel, Smiths tacho, chrome gear lever, Styla bullet mirrors all sitting on chunky Dunlop reverse rims with road legal Dunlop D7 period race tyres. Further original specification items include bumper over riders, chrome grille and white glass indicator units. The matching numbers 848cc engine has a 997 Cooper gas flowed cylinder head breathing through 3 into 1 exhaust manifold with system and a 1 inch SU carburettor with alloy rocker cover producing 50 bhp @5500rpm. With only 40,000 miles from new this all matching numbers and very original car is supplied with a Heritage Certificate and a current MoT certificate valid until June next year. A truly remarkable and original example.
