Lot 133: Audi A4 Cabriolet 2.3E - Ex-HRH the Princess of Wales

HISTORIC COLLECTORS MOTORCARS, Coys (29 June 2013)

First registered on the 7th March 1994, L449 TRP was presented to Princess Diana by Audi Dovercourt for her own personal use. This Audi was the family car in which Princess Diana was photographed in on a number of occasions, most notably arriving at the Chelsea Harbour Club and driving Their Royal Highnesses Prince William and Prince Harry in 1994. The car is described as being excellent condition throughout and it is hard to fault having covered only 21,000 miles from new. The car is very original and has not been retrimmed or repainted at any point. It is finished in metallic Gomera green paint work and the original light beige hide interior is in excellent condition. As one would expect, the car is well specified and includes a sports steering wheel, automatic gearbox, electric hood and windows and a walnut dashboard, all of which are in excellent order. Supplied with this Audi are 5 high quality A4 size prints of Her Royal Highness in the car, a V5 document, current MoT certificate valid until april next year, various bills as well as the original owners wallet with original service, instruction and assistance handbooks. An HPI check is included in the file confirming the registration number L449 TRP was assigned to the car when first registered and has not been removed since. During its life the car has been well cared for and all accessories such as the cigarette lighter and Sony radio/cassette are all present. While her jewelry and dresses have sold for record breaking fortunes internationally in the years since her death, there are only a handful of cars that can be so directly proved to have been the property of the Princess and been used regularly by both her and her family. This Audi is a car that has those undisputed connections. This car is not only collectible for its royal connection but also for its association with one of history's most celebrated and iconic woman of the 20th century.
