Lot 160: Jaguar XJS 3.6 Coupe

HISTORIC COLLECTORS MOTORCARS, Coys (29 June 2013)

The Jaguar XJS was launched to great acclaim in April of 1975 as a replacement for the legendary E-Type undoubtedly a tough act to follow! But nonetheless it has gone on to become another classic Jaguar design. There was no convertible available at the beginning mainly due to the way American safety legislation was heading during the XJS's development period in the late 1960's. The specification from the outset was impressive and included the V12 5.3 litre engine first seen in the Series III E-Type. Automatic transmission was fitted as standard with, manual as a no cost option. Performance was impressive with the top speed of 150mph, and the 0-60 time 6.9 seconds for the automatic version. Manufactured in 1990 and first registered on 25th may, this car has covered only 29,000 miles and 3 owners from new and in the hands of the last owner since 1995. This fine example is finished in Jade green and is described as being in almost concours condition. Boasting a full history and all books, this splendid motor car is also supplied with a V5 document and an MoT certificate valid until June next year. In the current market the Jaguar XJS represents exceptional value for money especially with the more efficient and lighter six cylinder engine. The ideal way to enjoy Jaguar motoring.
