Lot 173: Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera Targa

HISTORIC COLLECTORS MOTORCARS, Coys (29 June 2013)

The Porsche 911 is perhaps the most timeless design ever seen in motoring history. The car dominated its class as soon as it was launched in September 1963. Today, albeit very much more developed, it continues to attract adulation from enthusiasts and the motoring press alike. This unconventional and charismatic car evolved at an astonishing pace in its early life, with significant developments occurring annually during the late sixties and early seventies. In 1967 the Targa version of the 911 was introduced. The Targa had a removable roof panel and introduced the Targa as a 'stop gap' model. The name 'Targa' came from the Targa Florio road race in Sicily, in which Porsche had notable success: 11 victories in total. First registered on 4th May 1984, the Porsche 911 on offer today is a totally original Targa Top right-hand drive car, and the vendor has described that it drives superbly. Finished in black over a black interior, the car comes complete with its original Drivers Manual, Maintenance Record book, UK V5 registration document and has an MoT certificate valid until 31st July 2014. An opportunity to acquire a very original Porsche, ideal for all weather conditions.
