Lot 044: BMW Z3 1.9 Auto

Classic Vintage Cars & Motorcycles, Brightwells Auctioneers and Valuers (27 November 2013)

Launched in 1996 and remaining in production until 2002, the Z3 was BMW's first modern mass-market roadster and was designed very much with the American market in mind. Beautifully styled in BMW's Californian design studio, it had more than a whiff of the WW2 fighter plane about it, with an aggressively flared bonnet sporting chromed side vents that wouldn't have looked out of place on a Messerschmitt ME109. Initially powered by a 138bhp 1.9-litre 4-cylinder engine, this could propel the little roadster to 60mph in just 9 seconds on its way to a top speed of 127mph. This very well presented car has covered 98,000 miles from new, the service book registering 11 service stamps, 9 of which were with BMW main dealers. It has just flown through an MOT with no advisories and has recently been fitted with a new water pump and thermostat. The black paintwork and smart two-tone interior suit it well and the car also has a link with Brightwells. The vendor purchased it from our very own, equally dapper antiques expert, Geoffrey Crofts there can be no higher recommendation!
