Founded in 1936, Cleco specialised in battery electric vehicles, mostly factory and platform trucks, although some road-going vehicles of the milk float variety were made. There cars were a tiny saloon on a 78in wheelbase which had the appearance of a stunted Volkswagen Beetle. They claimed a range of about 55 miles, but this was achieved at an average speed of 15 mph. The price was £375 the equivalent to three Morris Eights, so its hardly surprising that only six were sold. Cleco continued electric van production up to 1957.
