L'Elégante
Overview
1903-1904
J B Mercier selected the name L'Elégante for the cars that he sold from premises in the rue St Ferdinand, Paris, a central city street off the Avenue de la Grande Armée. The car's makers, Lacoste & Battmann, obligingly cast L'Elégante into the lid of the gearbox, thus making it possible to identify the 'make' of what is believed to be the sole surviving example, which is powered by a De Dion-Bouton 8hp engine.
