Bertone is renowned for their unusual designs. The proposal for the Stratos was shown to Lancia in 1970 who bought the design and commissioned Bertone in 1972 to build the car in a somewhat amended form.
The Stratos was an excellent successor to the Fulvia HF and delivered a whole string of competition successes.
