The Vauxhall Cavalier appeared in late 1975.  This was identical to the Opel Ascona with the front end from the Manta and Vauxhall Viva engine.  The Cavalier had the four cylinder engine of 1,584 or 1,897 cc (70 or 90 bhp).  The more powerful unit gave acceleration of 0-60 in 11 seconds (0-100 kph) in 11.5 seconds).
