Lancia added exciting, new versions of its Beta in 1973, one year after the launch of the saloon, the Beta Coupe and Spider. Using shortened versions (92.5 inch instead of 100.0 inch) of the standard Beta the Coupe and Spider offered their own unique sports styling.
The Spider, Lancias first "open" model for many years, came with a huge range of engine options which included 1.3, 1.4, 1.6 and 2.0 litre units. The Spider had an unusual roof arrangement which featured removable "Targa" style panels above the driver/passenger and an independent folding rear "Hood" section. Although this type of roof was unconventional, it looked stylish and was more practical than traditional designs.
