Nash sold their final Rambler in 1956 but the model reappeared in 1958 as the AMC Rambler American. The cars was available in just one model, a two-door sedan, with a choice of one six-cylinder engine that produced 90 bhp (SAE) at 3,800 rpm. The Rambler was equipped with a panoramic front wind-screen. The car was fitted with a Packard V-8 engine because neither Hudson or Nash had their own V-8 power unit. The Ultra-Matic automatic gearbox was also supplied by Parckard.
