Chevrolet was always busy with its small car project, resulting in the Vega compact in 1971. This car had a four-cylinder aluminium engine with overhead camshaft of 2,287 cc, producing 81 bhp at 4,400 rpm. The Vega was a small car of 169 in (4310 mm), weighing just 2,211 lb (1,005 kg) but had a top speed of 94 mph (150 kph). The Vega filled the gap in the market once more.
