Fiat launched one of its most successful models of recent times in 1983, the Uno. The Uno was the first of a new and improved range of Fiats that would start to loose the poor reputation for rust gained during the 1970's. The new Uno had clean, crisp styling penned by Giugiaro and featured a large glass area.
The standard Uno models had sparse trim and engines which ranged from just under 1.0 litre, however there was also a real "fire cracker" in the Uno range, the Uno Turbo. The Uno Turbo first appeared with a 1.3 litre engine which developed 102bhp. This was followed by a more powerful 1.4 litre, 118bhp version in 1990.
With its alloy wheels, tailgate spoiler, special body graphics and interior trim, the Uno Turbo provided exciting performance with hatchback practicality.
