Dodge offered an ultra high performance version of the Dart GT in 1966. Known as the D-Dart for its intended competitive use in NHRA's D/Stock class, the 273 V8 was tweaked to produce 275 bhp (205 kW). Most of the power came from a larger carburetor and a more radical camshaft. The bulletin sent to the dealers from Chrysler also mentions an 8¾-inch rear axle with 4.89:1 final drive ratio. This car did not carry Chrysler's 5 year/50,000 mile warranty.
