Chevy II Coupe 047 (1962)

The demand for compacts reduced in 1961 so that Chevrolet introduced an in-between model, the Chevy II.  This car was available with a four or six-cylinder engine and from 1964 a V-8 was also possible.  The car was successful and in its first year sold 386,507, with 59,900 of them being estates.  The Chevy II was nothing out of the ordinary but although less striking than the Ford Falcon, it cost less than $2,000 making it cheaper than the Corvair.

The Chevy II became less popular from 1964 (it became known as the Nova from 1969)  because of the introduction of the Chevelle which filled the gap between the Chevy II and the big Chevrolet.
