In 1955, the Skoda 440 was introduced at the Brussels motor show. This had a new body but the mechanical side was unaltered. When this model was given a facelift, Skoda called it Octavia. The Octavia also incorporated improved mechanical engineering. The 1,098 or 1,221 cc engines had outputs of 43 or 47 bhp. The Octavia was the first Skoda to have coil springs instead of leaf springs. There were 2,273 cars made of the TS version with twin carburettors. The Felicia was the convertible version of the Octavia.
